Hey fellow nerds!
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language – like the Japanese you see in anime?
I’ve invented an interesting new way to learn a language. It’s called Sponge and it’s a browser extension that helps you learn a language by replacing words as you browse with words from the new language.
Check out the launch on ProductHunt.
If you could leave a comment or feedback and ideas, that would be awesome of you.
The coolest thing is that Sponge is Open Source and if you have an issue, you can submit it on the Github page. I just launched today, so please be patient as I fix any bugs.
PS: Our next anime convention, Kanpai!Con starts on April 7th!
Why a browser extension to learn a language?
But why a browser extension specifically? A browser extension is a convenient and accessible tool that can be used on any device that has internet access. Unlike traditional language learning methods, a browser extension doesn’t require you to set aside specific study time or carry around physical materials. Instead, you can integrate language learning seamlessly into your daily routine, whether you’re reading articles online or browsing social media.
Furthermore, a browser extension is a scalable solution that can accommodate a wide range of language learners, from beginners to advanced learners. With the ability to personalize the learning experience and track progress, a browser extension like Sponge can provide a more customized approach to language learning than traditional methods.
Why this method?
Because I think integrating words naturally into what you are already reading is the most friction-free way to learn. It will help you retain new vocabulary better because you’re seeing the words in context and using them in real-life situations. Plus, it’s a more natural and intuitive way to learn a language, similar to how you learned your first language.
There are different ways to learn a new language, but some are easier and more effective than others. One way is to memorize long lists of vocabulary, but this can be boring and difficult to remember. Another way is to immerse yourself in the language, but this can be overwhelming if you’re just starting out. There are also language learning apps, but they can be time-consuming and require dedicated study time.
Sponge is a language learning tool that offers a unique and innovative approach to learning new words. It integrates foreign words naturally into what you’re already reading, which makes it easier to remember and understand new words. You don’t need to set aside specific study time or carry around physical materials – you can learn a new language while browsing the internet.
Compared to other methods, Sponge is easy, natural, and effective. It presents new words in multiple contexts, which helps you remember them better, and it’s hard to forget new vocabulary. If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to learn a new language, Sponge is definitely worth trying out!
I hope you find it useful in your goal to learn a new language! It’s helping me brush up on my Spanish every day.
