While working people struggle to afford rent, groceries, and healthcare, politicians keep trying to distract you by making transgender people the enemy. It’s a con. The same people attacking trans rights are the ones selling out your wages, gutting your benefits, and handing your tax dollars to billionaires.
Let’s be clear—discrimination against trans people isn’t just about trans people. It’s a way to make it easier to discriminate against women. Women who don’t fit a narrow definition of femininity—whether they’re tall, broad-shouldered, or just don’t look the way some people expect—are already being harassed in restrooms and targeted in sports. This isn’t about fairness. It’s about control.
Across the country, women are being harassed in bathrooms because someone thinks they "look trans." Tall teenage girls are being accused of "being men" in sports. Women with short hair, deep voices, or broad shoulders are getting harassed because of these laws.
This is what happens when you let discrimination slide. It doesn’t stop with one group—it spreads. If they can ban trans women from sports today, what’s stopping them from banning cis women who "don’t look feminine enough" tomorrow?
I will push for stronger anti-discrimination laws to protect trans people and every other woman who might be targeted by these garbage policies.
Hate crimes against trans people are on the rise, but every other politician has been too weak to actually do anything about it. I’m not here to play games.
If you commit a hate crime against a trans person, we will fucking arrest you. We will fine you. We will make sure you face real consequences. No slaps on the wrist. No letting it slide. The law is the law, and if you assault, harass, or threaten someone because of their gender identity, you will be held accountable.
Conversion therapy is abuse. It has no medical basis, no ethical justification, and no place in Iowa. Yet some states still allow it, pushing LGBTQ+ youth—especially trans kids—into trauma and self-hatred.
I will make conversion therapy illegal in Iowa, with severe penalties for any licensed professional caught participating in it. No loopholes. No excuses.
Schools love to brag about their "zero tolerance" bullying policies, but in reality, they punish victims just as often as bullies. That stops now.
I will push for policies that require schools to actually protect trans students, not just make vague statements about tolerance. Teachers and administrators will be required to intervene, document, and discipline students who harass their classmates. No more blaming victims. No more meaningless "both sides" nonsense.
