Fighting for Iowa’s Senior Citizens

Billionaires and mega-corporations are stealing from all of us. For decades, politicians have promised relief while quietly shifting the tax burden away from the ultra-wealthy and onto working people. The result? Stagnant wages, skyrocketing costs, and a system rigged against everyday Iowans.

No group has been failed by this system more than seniors. After a lifetime of hard work, too many retirees are left struggling to afford healthcare, housing, and basic necessities. Meanwhile, predatory corporations take advantage of seniors with shady financial schemes and overpriced medical care.

I will fight for universal basic income, better healthcare access, and strict protections against financial scams and predatory reverse mortgages—because after a lifetime of work, no one should be left struggling.

Guaranteed Universal Basic Income for Seniors

Social Security isn’t enough. Rising costs of living mean that many seniors can barely afford rent, food, or medical care on their fixed incomes. Yet politicians refuse to raise benefits while handing tax cuts to billionaires.

I will push for universal basic income for seniors, ensuring that every older Iowan receives direct cash assistance—no complex paperwork, no endless bureaucracy, just financial security.

Better Healthcare Access

Seniors are often forced to ration medications, delay care, or deal with confusing insurance rules just to get the treatment they need. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies and insurance providers rake in record profits while cutting coverage.

I will fight to:

• Expand Medicare and Medicaid to cover more services and reduce out-of-pocket costs.
• Cap prescription drug prices to stop pharmaceutical companies from price-gouging seniors.
• Increase funding for home healthcare so seniors can live independently instead of being forced into nursing homes.

No one should have to choose between groceries and medicine.

Strict Regulations Against Predatory Reverse Mortgages and Scams

Reverse mortgages, phone scams, fraudulent investment schemes—corporations and con artists have made an entire industry out of stealing from seniors. Too many retirees have lost their homes, life savings, or financial independence because of predatory businesses operating with little oversight.

I will push for strict regulations on financial products targeting seniors, including:

• Banning predatory reverse mortgages that trick seniors into losing their homes.
• Harsher penalties for fraud and financial scams targeting retirees.
• State-funded financial literacy programs to protect seniors from scams before they happen.

If a company is caught scamming seniors, I want them prosecuted—no excuses.
