Fighting for Disabled Iowans

Billionaires and mega-corporations are stealing from all of us. For decades, politicians have promised relief while quietly shifting the tax burden away from the ultra-wealthy and onto working people. The result? Stagnant wages, skyrocketing costs, and a system rigged against everyday Iowans.

Disabled people bear the brunt of this system. Healthcare is expensive, social safety nets are designed to be impossible to navigate, and transportation remains inaccessible. Meanwhile, politicians gut disability programs while handing tax cuts to the rich.

It’s time for a system that actually works. I will fight for universal basic income, accessible public transit, better healthcare access, and expanded mental health services—because disabled people shouldn’t have to struggle just to survive.

Guaranteed Universal Basic Income

Many disabled people cannot work full-time, yet our system punishes them for it. Disability benefits are difficult to qualify for and come with restrictions that keep people trapped in poverty. No one should have to prove they are “disabled enough” to afford basic necessities.

I will push for a guaranteed universal basic income, ensuring that all disabled Iowans receive direct cash assistance—no endless paperwork, no strings attached.

Better Public Transit for Accessibility

Public transit in Iowa is unreliable, underfunded, and often completely inaccessible to disabled people. Many paratransit services require scheduling days in advance, making basic mobility a challenge.

I will push for:

  • Expanded and more frequent public transit in rural and urban areas.
  • More accessible vehicles and better paratransit services.
  • Stronger legal protections to ensure public and private transit providers meet accessibility standards.
Getting around shouldn’t be a daily struggle for disabled people.

Improving Healthcare Access

Disabled people often require more medical care, but our healthcare system is a nightmare to navigate. Long wait times, insurance denials, and out-of-pocket costs leave many disabled Iowans without the care they need.

I will fight to:

  • Expand Medicaid and remove unnecessary restrictions.
  • Cap prescription drug prices so life-saving medication is affordable.
  • Increase home healthcare funding so people can get care without being forced into institutions.
Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

Expanding Mental Health Services

Iowa has a mental health crisis, and disabled people—especially those with chronic illnesses or psychiatric conditions—face the worst of it. Therapy and psychiatric care are expensive and often unavailable, especially in rural areas.

I will expand mental health services statewide, including:

  • More funding for therapists and psychiatric care, especially in rural areas.
  • Increased insurance coverage for therapy, medication, and inpatient care.
  • Funding for peer support programs to provide accessible community-based help.
No one should be forced to suffer because mental healthcare is out of reach.

Our Plan for Disabled Iowans

  • Guarantee universal basic income to ensure financial stability.
  • Expand and improve public transit for accessibility.
  • Ensure better healthcare access by expanding Medicaid and capping prescription costs.
  • Fund mental health services to provide real support for those in need.
  • Make billionaires pay their fair share instead of gutting disability programs.

Disabled people deserve dignity, security, and the ability to live full lives. My campaign is about action—not empty promises—because no one should have to fight just to get what they need.
